About JSNM
Greeting
Welcome to the Website of the Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine (JSNM)!
the JSNM was established in 1964. Since then, our Society has constantly grown to now include 3,600 members with its mission to develop appropriate applications of radioactive substances and stable nuclides in medicine. To accomplish our goal, the JSNM has promoted a broad range of research in the clinical and investigational use of radiopharmaceuticals and related fields through exchanging ideas and information among physicians, physicists, chemists, pharmacists, technologists, nurses and others.
Currently, the optimization of treatments based on the accurate diagnosis is essential for many types of diseases. Since nuclear medicine plays an important role in both diagnosis and therapy, this unique medical technology by using isotopes has strongly attracted attention from a wide range of professionals involved in the medical sciences. For example, integration of diagnosis and treatment using radioisotopes, which is termed radio-theranostics, is an effective strategy for treatment of some intractable tumors. Additionally, some radioactive probes can non-invasively reveal the mystery of brain function, and the obtained findings can contribute to overcome neurological disorders such as dementia.
Vigorous activities of our colleagues have yielded many fruitful results, and through these activities, the JSNM has advanced medical sciences not only in Japan but also in other countries all over the world. The Society is committed to the international collaboration to further advance nuclear medicine, and our Society has published an English journal, Annals of Nuclear Medicine (ANM), to disseminate valuable information to the world. This academic journal has been indexed in Journal Citation Reports in addition to MEDLINE.
As stated above, these collective activities in the field of nuclear medicine in Japan is high and strong to fascinate physicians and researchers globally. As a result, Japan was selected as the first Highlight Country at the Seminar in Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) in 2016. Moreover, the JSNM has successfully invited the World Federation Nuclear Medicine and Biology 2022, which will be held in Kyoto and Kanazawa.
As JSNM membership provides exclusive professional and educational benefits, please join us and experience exciting academic activities in nuclear medicine!
We hope you enjoy your visit to our Website.
