Abstract | [Summary] Bone scans with 99mTc-phosphate complexes of 3160 cases, including 2350 cases of malignant neoplasms, were reviewed to analyse extraosseous accumulation. Seventy seven cases demonstrated abnormal extraosseous accumulation. Twenty eight cases were neoplasms(malignant pleural effusion, breast cancers, lung cancers, gastric cancers, etc. ). Forty three cases were non-neoplastic conditions(edema in extremities, normal breasts, myositis ossificans, etc. ). And the remainder were of unknown pathological causes. The tracers accumulation in the lesions with calcifications were observed in 15 cases. All neoplasms with the tracers accumulation were malignant, except for one case of myoma uteri. Sixty three per cents of malignant neoplasms with extraosseous uptake were noted as adenocarcinomas histologically. Possible mechanism of extraosseous accumulation of the tracers was disccussed. |
