Abstract[Summary] The orbital accumulation of 67Ga-citrate was studied in 196 patients without ophthalmic disease and in 23 patients with unilateral ophthalmic tumorous lesions. In 196 patients without ophthalmic abnormality, symmetric orbital uptake of 67Ga-citrate was higher in female than male and in younger than older. The positive rate for female and male was 92% and 62%, respectively. Six cases showed asymmetric uptake, giving false positive rate of 3%. In a series of 19 patients with unilateral orbital mass, 4 of 5 cases with malignant tumors (80%) , 4 of 5 cases with benign neoplasms (80%) and 7 of 9 cases with inflammatory diseases (78%) revealed positive scintigrams. There were no significant difference among these positive rates. In 4 cases with unilateral occular malignant tumors, only one (25%) showed positive finding. Of the 15 cases of orbital masses with diameter more than 15mm, 14 cases (93%) revealed positive findings. On the contrary, only one of the 5 patients with ophthalmic masses with diameters less than 15mm (20%) showed positive scintigram. We concluded that the positive findings of ophthalmic masses with 67Ga-citrate depended on the size of tumor but not on the pathology of the diseases.
