| Abstract | [Summary] Fundamental studies on the labeling techniques for 99mTc-Bleomycin (99mTc-BLM) were performed. Among them, Sn-resin kit method was found to be the best method, which could produce the most chemically stable 99mTc-BLM, requiring minimum amount of tin without ascorbic acid. Clinical evaluation of the kit labeled 99mTc-BLM was performed in various malignant and benign diseases. A comparative study with 67Ga citrate (67Ga) scintigraphy was also performed. 99mTc-BLM was revealed to have superior sensitivity and specificity of 73% and 72% for malignant tumors over those with 67Ga of 64% and 41%, respectively. Though 99mTc-BLM scintigraphy had a disadvantage in detecting lesions in the trunk comparing to 67Ga scintigraphy due to the high back ground radioactivity from 30 min. to 1 hr. after intravenous injection, it provides a excellent means in detecting malignant tumors in the limbs, head and neck. |
