Abstract[Summary] Radionuclide cardioangiography was performed by using 99mTc in vitro and in vivo labeled red blood cells. With in vitro studies, 2 ml of whole blood was incubated with 3 μg of stannous pyrophosphate (TCK-11), followed by removing the supernatant and incubation of 10-15 mCi of 99mTc for 5-10 minutes. After once washing, labeling yield of 48.9+-22.7% was obtained in 10 studies. The in vivo studies were done with two consecutive intravenous injection, first of "cold" stannous pyrophosphate (Sn-PYP) and then of 99mTc. The labeling reached to plateau 6 minutes after injection of 99mTc and labeling yield was 81.1+-20.0%. A comparison was performed between in vivo and in vitro studies. The in vitro method revealed superior images, better intravascular retention and lower background than in vivo method. It is discussed both methods are suitable for radionuclide cardioangiography.
