Abstract | [Summary] Radio-cisternogtaphic studies were performed using 111In-DTPA in fifteen patients diagnosed as spinocerebellar degeneration and their resutls were compared with those obtained in the control group. In the spinocerebellar degeneration group, about 80% of the patients showed filling and retention of 111IN-DTPA in the posterior fossa in contrast to about 17% in the control group at 6 and 24 hours after intrathecal injection of rediopharmaceuticals. In some cases, filling of lateral ventriculus, delayed circuration and partial subarachnoid block of the radiopharmaceuticals were noted. However these cases were equally present on both groups. These results seem to demonstrate the accumulation of the isotope in the enlarged posterior fossa caused by the atrophied cerebellum. This method may be helpfull as one of the diagnostic procedures to prove cerebellar atrophy. 111In-DTPA clearance was also studied. No adverse reaction was noted. |
