Abstract | 「1. 「2.2. Abstract | [Summary] A NaI detector with a collimator of unfocussed rectangular slit is often employed in quantitative measurement of radionuclide distribution in human body for the purpose of internal absorbed dose calculation. In this paper, two characteristics of this collimator-detector system are studied: (1) resolution along the body axis and (2) relative counting efficiency within the axial transverse section. Point spread function was calculated from the geometrical configulation of the collimator-detector system and compared with the experiment. It was found that experimental point spread function was well fitted by Gaussian function, but does not agree with the calculated one. The relative counting efficiency in transverse section was calculated for circular cross section in water of several different diameters and also compared with experimental results under similar geometric conditions. It was shown that results of the calculation and the experiment were in good agreement. From these results, it may be concluded that this type of collimator is useful for quantitative assessment of radionuclide distribution in vivo, but further investigation is necessary on depth dependence of the resolution. |
